A fully plugged wax line is a production problem, not a cleaning problem.

A crude producer faced severe wax deposition with pour point above 50 degrees C, resulting in a pipe fully plugged with wax.

The Real Problem

Once wax blocks the line, production has already lost control of the risk.

The crude had a very high pour point and formed wax deposition severe enough to fully plug the pipe. Restoring flow required chemistry that could disperse the existing deposit and improve fluid mobility.

After flow restoration, the longer-term answer was to move treatment upstream, right at the source, before wax could build into another blockage.

Disperse the deposit, then prevent the next plug.

Lamurindo formulated a wax dispersant to break down deposition and improve flowability of the fluid. A wax inhibitor program was then proposed upstream to reduce future wax deposition at the source.
